Based on the Schindler House/Studio in Los Angeles, Pauline looks at the idealized beauty expressed by this modernist prototype and an intervention made by one of its former inhabitants – Pauline.

Many years after the house was built as an architectural as well as social experiment Pauline Schindler-Gribling came to live in one half of the unconventional duplex. During this period she painted the interior of her section of house pink.

My work reflects on this personal action that undermined the modernist project and its requisite truth to natural materials. The work is a generalized 3/4 scale model of a section of her studio, its interior modified to mimic Pauline's intervention.
