Depth of Field 2014
"Depth of Field" is a well-known term in photography that refers to the range of distance between the closest and farthest objects in a scene that appear in focus within an image. In my artistic practice, I explore this concept by working with a variety of dislocated backgrounds. These backgrounds may be intentionally blurred or brought into focus, detached from their original contexts. By doing so, I aim to disrupt the conventional hierarchy that assigns greater importance to the foreground over the background. Through this approach, I challenge the viewer's expectations and invite them to question the traditional notions of depth and perspective in visual compositions.
A small selection of these paintings was exhibited at Birch Contemporary in Toronto in 2014.
